Synopsis[]
Raelle fights for her life, just as the Army and Spree converge on a secret Camarilla stronghold. Abigail and Adil's mission for vengeance escalates.
Plot[]
Raelle awakes in the laboratory and stronghold of the Camarilla, overseen by their leader, Dr. Alban Hearst. He tells her that he's surprised she's awake, given the amount of paralytic that they gave her, and they will have her gift. He begins subjecting her to increasingly powerful strains of the witchplague and each time she is resurrected by her connection to the Mycelium.
In the wake of the attack by Nicte Batan, General Alder is forced to put off a joint statement regarding the witch testing centers. Abigail and Adil launch their own attack on the Camarilla's stronghold, only to discover Raelle's capture. Adil realizes that they are attacking her with the same thing they used on the train Brussels.
Just then, Raelle's mother, Willa, unexpectedly arrives with Scylla Ramshorn. She enters the clean room where Raelle is being kept and tells her to keep fighting. She tells her that leaving her behind was the greatest mistake of her life, then takes the witchplague into herself, rescuing Raelle, but herself being killed in the process.
Tally Craven is invited into Alder's inner Warding Circle. Alder reveals to her that Raelle is safe, but when she refers to her as the "asset," Tally explodes, telling her that to her she's nothing but the witchbomb. Just then, however, to everyone's horror, Alder is attacked again remotely by Nicte Batan, something that should not be possible within the Warding Circle.
