Tally Craven is one of the main characters in Motherland: Fort Salem. She is portrayed by Jessica Sutton.

She is a kind, strong-willed, and curious witch who enlisted despite her mother’s passionate disapproval, believing it to be her duty and that it's important to make a difference in the world, given the challenges her people face.

History[]

Tally originates from a Matrifocal compound near Sacramento, California, in a place governed entirely by witch women, where no man is allowed to visit. Tally's mother lost four sisters in combat and received a dispensation from the Army that enabled her to avoid conscription and military service. She wanted the same for Tally, but Tally wants to serve and have a positive impact on the world. She argues with her mother constantly regarding the matter and her decision to enlist is a source of much friction between them.

She is a virgin at the beginning of Season 1 and the least experienced of the three. Tally grew up with fellow cadet Glory Moffett, whom she's friends with.

Throughout the Series[]

Season 1[]

Despite her mother's opposition, Tally enlists in the army because she believes it is her duty and she wants to protect the innocent. She arrives at an airport and a man gives her his ticket to Boston. Around her people begin to whisper when seeing that she is a witch.

At Fort Salem, she is placed into a unit with Raelle Collar and Abigail Bellweather. Tally tries to get the unit to work together, but Raelle and Abigail butt heads. The trio perform well during a harmonics exercise and begin to get along.

During lunch, Tally meets a friend from her compound named Glory Moffet who can't believe Tally would come to Fort Salem willingly.

Tally begins to doubt her ability to be a soldier when she fails to attack Anacostia and when her mother tells her that Fort Salem is not for her. During the pageant in Salem Town, a balloon is released and the civilians go into a panic. The cadets try to calm everyone down, but a man says that since the Spree are committing these attacks, all witches are the problem. Tally windstrikes him in anger.

Later, the unit along with Glory and Libba Swythe party and get drunk together. Tally tells them that she made the right choice enlisting and that they are her "witches." They agree and continue to party.

When the male witches arrive for the Beltane ceremony, Tally's eyes light up. She has never been around men before and she gets very excited about the prospect of a potential romance. Gerit Buttonwood immediatel catches her eye and they begin to flirt. Later on, they kiss.

Their relationship starts to progress and at the Beltane dance, they connect and have sex. They passionately say goodbye as Gerit has to go back to his academy. She ecstatically tells her friends about losing her virginity.

At Charvel Bellweather's wedding, Tally is thrilled to see that Gerit is there. They run off and make out and Tally is giddy until later she finds out that Gerit is in fact engaged to Hilary Saint.

Later at the wedding, while crying in the bathroom, Tally overhears Scylla talking to a mirror (being controlled by The Spree). She runs to tell Anacostia when she saw and what she suspects. Later, she is told to keep this a secret from her unit.

During linking training, Tally pairs with Glory to prevent Raelle from seeing her memories. She along with the rest of the class get put to sleep when Raelle gets angry.

During Citydrop, she and the rest of the cadets are ordered by General Alder to participate in an attack against the Spree where the cadets unknowingly killed several hostages. At the time of the attack, only Tally, Anacostia, and the leadership were aware of the true nature of the hostages' deaths (they were alive when they were killed with the Spree as collateral damage by the cadets). This act weighed on Tally greatly, who joined the army believing she would be fighting to end suffering and death of the innocent.

Tally is present when the unit goes to General Bellweather to inform her that Scylla is on-base and the Spree has infiltrated Fort Salem. This sets off a series of events where the President tries to remove Alder's power and replace her role with General Bellweather. Alder finds out and puppets the president to gain absolute power. Tally finds out and starts to question more and more the actions and decisions of General Alder.

After Gerit is married, she continues to have a sexual relationship with him to deal with her feelings about what happened at Citydrop. When in bed with him, Hilary walks in and asks to join in. Tally is furious and breaks up with Gerit.

Tally, Abigail, and Raelle complete basic training and attend their graduation. They are elated and go to wait for their assignments. Expecting War College, they are all shocked and disappointed to see that they were assigned into combat to be deployed immediately. General Alder personally blocked their War College acceptance because she wanted them to accompany her on a rescue mission for the Tarim.

Anacostia tells them that Abigail will not be joining them. Tally is devastated, but Anacostia tells her to get her head in the mission. Tally thanks Anacostia for taking care of them.

Upon boarding the plane, Abigail appears behind them and the unit embrace. The unit flies off to go save the Tarim, along with the help of Adil. Upon landing, Tally tells the group that they are being watched and that they feel hostile. They camp on the ground. The girls accuse Alder of many wrongdoings and demand answers. Alder says she doesn't owe them any answers but for the sake of trust she will explain herself. She explains how she has had to make many hard decisions over the years and that every decision hurts, but it is for the greater good.

They find the Tarim hidden in a cave. Tally confronts Alder about her power lust. Alder tells her that she grew up in constant fear and only wishes to use the Tarim's songs to to make the world a better place. After the Tarim are healed, Tally reports that there are people waiting for them outside. She tells them that they aren't witches. They find the reemerged Camarilla have taken the pilots and burn them alive in front of the group.

Biddy Tally

Tally becomes a biddy.

The Camarilla conjure a dust storm and attack the group. Tally is able to detect where they are and tells the witches where to strike. Alder's biddies get hurt, which in turn starts to weaken Alder. In a moment of panic, Tally tells Alder to take her youth so that she can recover. Alder accepts and Tally instantly grows very old. Raelle gets stabbed and Abigail runs out to save her, Alder has to make the hard call to leave them to save the group. Tally is distraught and devastated as she sees her two best friends lie dying, left behind.

Season 2[]

Alder offered Tally the chance to have her youth restored and returned to the way she once was — a very rare opportunity, albeit with some risk, which Tally initially refused, determined to stick with her decision. Alder told her to think about it, and when there meeting was interrupted by a soldier to report that Raelle and Abigail were found alive, Tally immediately accepted the offer. After the ritual during which a witch trained to be a Biddy took her place, she shared a happy reunion with her unit sisters and spent some time recovering in the infirmary.

The three of them then learn that they were all accepted to War College,[1] later meeting their company: the Sekhmet Coven, led by M. Tally heard that other students gossiped that they only got in because of Abigail's mother, which she relayed to the two. She then took notice of Penelope Silver, the daughter of the Vice President and a new recruit. Seeing that Penelope was having trouble adjusting and fitting in, she asked Alder for permission to take Penelope under her wing and get her up to speed and ready for Basic, which Alder agreed to.[2]

Despite being separated from Alder, Tally began having dreams, which she later realized were memories, of Alder's past and a woman named Nicte Batan who served with Alder, which on rare occasions seep past her dreams and into her waking hours in the form of wounds,[1] and hallucinations.[3] During a trip to the Fort Salem's museum, Tally found a photo of Alder with a shimmery image of Nicte, one which Penelope cannot see, making Tally realize that somebody used working to try and hide all evidence of Nicte's existence.

Meanwhile, Tally continued to display strong skill with her Sight, being leaps ahead of those in her Coven.[2] Because of this, she was placed in a track that focused on training her Sight, while Abigail focused on Weatherwork and Raelle on her Witchbomb training, much to Tally's dismay.

Tally continued to have visions of Batan fighting alongside Alder in Liberia during an event known as the Martyrdom,[3] a fact that has been redacted from their history books. Frustrated by the lack of answers she was getting because of the lies everyone has been made to believe that contradict her visions of Alder's past, as well as the ongoing threat of the Camarilla that Alder was still covering up and pinning on the Spree, Tally finally confronted Alder about it.[4] Alder continued to lie about it, and when she told Alder about her visions, Alder told her that she will get Izadora to sever the connection.

Desperate for real answers, Tally found her opportunity in Samhain, a witch holiday celebrated on Halloween. M led their coven during a ceremony at Fort Salem to battle the spirits of the Lost Regiment, one which would allow them to speak with the dead — any one person who has passed on that a witch wishes to speak with — if they won. Tally chose to speak with Valda Esterbrook, the Martyr of the Martyrdom. The woman told her that the story they knew about the Martyrdom was all lies and showed her the truth: that they had surrendered but Alder used Nicte's work to force them to kill themselves.

Following Samhain and Raelle grieving about her mother not appearing to her, Tally decided to accompany Raelle to the Chippewa Cession for their break, a last minute change from their original plan to go to the Bellweather's estate.[5] Once there, Raelle asked Tally to avoid discussing any "sensitive topics" with her father Edwin, including their brief deployment and the witchbomb. Before Edwin arrived, Tally expressed her concern to Raelle about Alder possibly manipulating her and using her power like she did with Nicte and the Liberian Front, but Raelle promised Tally that she'll always have a choice.

Edwin arrived and the three exchanged stories, of Tally's past and Raelle's childhood. Tally urged Raelle to talk with Edwin about her mother, to no avail as Raelle did not want to upset her father. However, Raelle agreed to talk to someone about her mother, and she took and introduced Tally to Quinn — her mother's best friend whom she felt she could talk to about Willa. After this visit, Raelle finally opened up to Edwin about her, much to Tally's glee.

Through some of the stories they shared with Quinn, Tally learned that Nicte's Work from her visions matched the type of Spree weapons the army went up against, making her deduce that Nicte may have founded the Spree and could be why Alder worked so hard to redact Nicte. She wondered what else Alder could be hiding and decided that she wants to act on this knowledge somehow.

During the trip, Tally and Raelle noticed a group of three women in a car tailing them wherever they went. The two confronted them and realized that they were part of the army and learn that they were sent to protect Raelle. When Raelle went out to give the group some food later that night, they were ambushed by the Camarilla who shot them with tranq darts, knocking them out and making them defenseless as they took and kidnapped Raelle.[6] Tally was indignant about the other soldiers sidelining her instead of allowing her to actively participate in the search for Raelle and she decided to go to Quinn to warn her and other witches in the community about the Camarilla before being sent back to base.

Shortly after her return to base, Alder called for Tally to give her the news that Raelle had been found and that Abigail had called it in. Tally called Alder out for not truly caring for Raelle's wellbeing beyond being a valuable military asset, but their confrontation is cut short when Alder and the Biddies are suddenly lifted from the ground as if being hung by their limbs. With her sight, Tally found the Biddy who was being used to harm Alder and performed windstrike on her to kick her out of the warding circle. Furthering her sight, she briefly linked with the Biddy to the source of the magic and connected to Nicte.[7]

The Biddy soon gave them Nicte's location, and Alder assigned her to the mission to eliminate her due to their connection and her advanced Sight. Tally demanded that her unit be a part of the mission with her, which Alder begrudgingly accepted. After their meeting, General Bellweather privately met with her to change her objective from killing Nicte to bringing her back alive, and to have Tally tell her all she knew about Batan. Tally and the strike team then made a stop to pick up her unit, bringing Scylla along with them.

Together, the unit got past the first of Nicte's off-canon work that prompted them to try to kill themselves while many of the rest of the strike team met their demise. At Nicte's cabin, Abigail, Raelle, and Scylla began bickering and came close to killing one another. Tally remained unaffected and, while outside, saw the sounds of Nicte's work with her Sight and followed it to the source. She faced Nicte in battle, during which she realized that Nicte couldn't fully battle her while still using work to cause conflict with the girls at the cabin. Nicte released the girls and fought Tally. Tally was soon knocked out, and Nicte swapped their appearances with her lighter in a classic Spree move, giving the impression that Tally had bested her when the others arrived. Upon arrival at the Fort, Nicte tried to attack Alder, only for the others to quickly catch on and stop her. Anacostia revealed Nicte's true face, and Tally's soon followed.[8]

Nicte's capture seemingly put an end to the threat of the Spree, but there were complications. Nicte resisted the Work that was used against her to try to extract the info on the remaining Spree cells and leadership, insisting instead that she would only answer questions if they were posed by Tally. When, however, Tally questioned her, Nicte used the session as an opportunity to reveal the truth before witnesses such as President Kelly Wade and Vice President Blanton Silver about her past with General Alder. She revealed that Alder had used her work to force a group of Liberian rebels to kill themselves and, angered, she started the Spree in revenge to attack the Army. Alder then tried to erase her from history.

Hearing this, Wade told Alder that they needed to have a chat about the future. It was determined that Alder would step down and leadership would pass to General Petra Bellweather. Nicte was to be executed by General Alder herself for her crimes. This, however, did not sit right with Tally, who was disgusted that the truth of the past would simply be swept under the rug, the world never knowing the truth about what General Alder had done. She goes to talk about it with Nicte, who mocks her for thinking that everything was going to be tied up for a pretty bow. She told Tally that this wasn't her story and to find someone to love, but Tally wouldn't accept this. She searched through ancient witch documents and discovered a ritual known as the Rite of Proxy. During Nicte's execution, she invoked the Rite, along with several others, personally challenging General Alder. Alder's true role in events was then revealed and she was forced to step down.[9]

Fort Salem was invaded by the Camarilla, who released a lethal witchplague within the grounds, wearing armored suits that protected them from Work. Tally, however, discovered a special tone which could be used to disable the suits, enabling direct attacks. She then tracked the source of the witchplague, which, to her and the Unit's horror turned out to be Penelope Silver, who seemed barely conscious of where she was or what she was doing. Left with no choice, they moved to take her out. As they did so, Penelope shouted "Tally, please!" but Tally could only watch horrified as Raelle and Abigail worked in tandem using the witchbomb to eliminate Penelope. Doing so cleared the witchplague from Fort Salem and ended the attack. However, in the aftermath, Blanton Silver ordered the extradition of the Unit to Washington D.C. With the Army realizing that they would not be able to clear their names, Anacostia and Petra helped set up their escape, and they were all proclaimed wanted fugitives. Nicte aided in their escape and Tally declared that she had to come with them, as there was no way she could be handed over to the government.[10]

Season 3[]

As the Unit went into hiding at a paper factory that is a front for dodgers, Tally trained with Nicte Batan, refining her ability of farsight to see deep into the future. The training proved useful, but the two's carelessness resulted in the Unit being discovered and forced deeper into hiding into the Chippewa Cession. Tally also experienced a terrible vision: one of Raelle destroying the world using the witchbomb.

As the group was driven into the Cession, Raelle was taken by the Mycelium to travel. The rest of them were very nearly caught by the Cession Marshal and lost track of Khalida, Adil's sister. Tally used her newfound power of visions to track Khalida to a pub, where they found her there with Sarah Alder and were stunned by her being alive, learning that she had been revived by the Mycelium as a steward of the First Song.

The group was caught by the Cession Marshal, but learned that the Council of the Great River wanted to meet with them to determine whether they were to be extradited back to Washington D.C. During this time, Nicte left the group, pleading that her situation was different from theirs. Though Tally worried over this, Nicte told her that she always landed on her feet.

The Council decided to allow the group to try to escape into California. Before they could get very far, however, the Camarilla launched an attack, but were thwarted by the arrival of Alder. Meanwhile, Blanton Silver, who had become president following the supposed assassination of Kelly Wade, ordered an invasion of the Cession in order to try to root out the Unit.

Although Abigail wanted Tally to remain and help fight, Tally felt that their best shot was for her to go with Alder to help her seek out one of the lost stewards of a piece of the First Song. The two traveled to a frigid cave in North Germany where they discovered one of the stewards frozen in ice. Discovering the steward to be filled with rage and grief, Tally agreed to sacrifice her farsight in exchange for custody of the steward's song, in order to give her a vision of a better world. She was then discovered days later, barely alive, by Abigail and Raelle, who had been freed from the Mycelium. She feared Alder to be dead.

The group, led by Abigail, decided to surrender themselves in order to stop the fighting in the Cession. They were extradited back to Washington D.C. to stand trial before the Chief Justice. It quickly became clear, however, that the trial was a farce, as every time one of them attempted to speak they would be cut off by the prosecutor before they could get more than a few words out,

Abigail, growing irritated and impatient, declared the trial to be "bullshit" and pleaded with the Chief Justice for a chance for one of them to speak without being constantly cut off. The Chief Justice agreed and Abigail told Tally that it would have to be her, as she was the only one of them with a foot in both worlds, that of the witch and the civilian. Tally was reluctant, but gave a moving speech in which she talked about having been reluctant to "say the words" but having found a home among the witches. She plead for the trial not to be used as an excuse to persecute all witches. Seemingly unmoved, however, the Chief Justice ordered the trial to be ended for the day and the Unit to be placed back into holding. Just then, however, Kelly Wade arrived and revealing her survival, slapping Blanton Silver in the face and ending the trial.

In the aftermath of the trial, Raelle and Scylla & Abigail and Adil decided to get married. Although Tally progressed her romance with Gregorio Shellbark, the two themselves did not marry. After the ceremonies however came terrible news: the Camarilla had launched a direct assault on Fort Salem. The group made their way to Fort Salem, battling their way to the Mycelial chamber. Tally was horrified that everything seemed to be playing out exactly as had happened in her vision, with Raelle on the edge of activating the witchbomb.

As things continued, however, she gained a sense of clarity, realizing that everything was as it should be and what mattered was not preventing things from happening, but how they changed them. Alder arrived with the other stewards, explaining that Abigail was a steward as well, as her ancestor Jem Bellweather had been. Together the stewards, including Tally, sang the song as Raelle activated the witchbomb. In the aftermath, they all learned that Anacostia Quartermain had died in the fighting and mourned for her. Tally then got her farsight back and what she was beautiful. The witch Mother Mycelium then addressed her and the others, explaining exactly what had happened. The combination of the First Song and Raelle's witchbomb changed the world, causing a small part of the power of the witch to be within everyone, even the Camarilla. She told the Unit that the world would look to them as goddesses. Sarah Alder then told them to make sure that they lived up to the name, before fading back into the Mycelium.

Relationships[]

Physical Appearance[]

Tally is tall with long auburn hair and dark brown eyes.

Her "mark" is located behind her right ear.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

Witch Physiology: As a witch, Tally possesses enhanced vocal chords that are capable of creating change in the physical world by singing different seed sounds and songs, as well as enhanced ears -- as stated in Up is Down: eardrums with "five mallea", compared to a regular human's one, that are capable of sensing subsonic and ultrasonic frequencies far beyond the capabilities of normal humans. Along with Raelle and Abigail she is one of the most formidable cadets in her year.

  • Warding: By warding her door in Say The Words, she stops her mother’s banging and pleading, effectively locking her out before her call comes. In She Returns, Tally is seen freeing Thelma by unwarding her collar.
  • Water Current Manipulation: In Say The Words, Raelle, Abigail, and Tally are seen -- along with all of the other newly conscripted soldiers -- causing fountain-like currents to erupt from the large bowl of water at the center of the room, each one climbing and reaching into the air.
  • Maelstrom Manipulation: By performing the seed of reversal with Raelle and Tally, the trio were able to conjure a massive maelstrom in a vocal session at the end of Say The Words -- utilizing seed #32, the seed of reversal and disruption, which disrupts surrounding elements. This is often used as a bonding exercise for new covens and as a testing exercise for new recruits.
  • Levitation: By using Salva, Abigail can levitate several feet off the ground, and, with practice, can perform combat drops. During Citydrop -- their first real mission -- she injures her leg near the end of the drop and is promptly healed by Raelle. After returning from the chemical plant, in Oh Elayne..., and realizing that the Marshals were on their tail, the group decides to split up.  Abigail, Adil, and Tally decide to utilize salva to make an escape off of a steep cliff.
  • Linking: In Mother Mycelium, the unit is taught by Izadora in a training session focused on "linking" and the importance of a Fixer, or healer, in a unit, during which they practice synchronizing heartbeats -- in which she states, "Let me be clear. You can blast clean through a mountain and know the whisper of an oncoming gale. But without a Fixer, you'll likely end up in the ground just the same...Breathing, if you listen closely enough, is a kind of song. Our hearts beat a rhythm. Master this music, and you can become attuned to your target's life force, blood flow, organ function, even cellular composition. Linking is the touchstone of of Fixing, and soldiers, as you can see, it often means life or death."
    • Sleep Induction: In She Returns, she and Scylla team up to save the Council -- to do this, they each "sleep" a guard to begin their offense. Later, she attempts to "sleep' the civilian commander entering the room, however his anti-witch armor sent it bouncing right back at her.
  • Weather Manipulation: Dubbed "weatherwork" by the witches at Fort Salem.
    • Windshear: First taught to the girls of Fort Salem in Say The Words; a “site-specific rapid conjuration impact-absorbing shield, made by layering two complicated seed sounds sub-vocally.” In Citydrop, Tally and the rest of the witches in basic training use this ability during their mission against the Spree in Boston, creating so much wind-pressure that the first truck driven by a member of the Spree's leadership collides with it and is caused to flip over and roll into the nearby field.
    • Windstrike: Second working taught to the girls of Fort Salem; a propulsive burst of air similar to a bullet. Together with Raelle and Abigail, the group is able to exert over 1600 lbs of pressure per square foot, shown when they blast a hole through solid metal. In My Witches, Tally windstrikes a civilian going on about how witches can't be trusted out of anger, but is covered for. In Not Our Daughters, Tally and M windstrike the Camarilla's van to stop them from hurting Abigail. After spotting the traitor among the Biddies during Nicte's second attack on General Alder, Tally windstrikes her away at the end of Irrevocable. In Homo Cantus, Tally uses windstrike against Nicte when the two are training on the roof. The first time she is barely affected, however utilizing her precognition in tandem with windstrike, Tally is able to halt Nicte's attack. Later in the episode, the two are seen sending volleys of windstrikes back and forth, dodging each others' shots. At the chemical plant, in The Price of Work, when the group goes on the attack against Hearst and his Camarilla operatives, Tally fires a windstrike at Alban's leg which injures his knee enough for him to have to limp away. In Happy Yule!, while being held in The Marshall's house, Abigail, Tally, Scylla, and Nicte all emerge from their rooms at once to attempt to surprise him with a collective windstrike; he is barely affected and notes that it felt like "a baby's cough". In She Returns, after the two each "sleep" a guard, she and Scylla begin firing off a volley of windstrikes to take out the rest.
  • Scrying: Tally demonstrates a natural talent for scrying, capable of certain intuitive works. Charged by the excitement of the male witches' arrival in A Biddy's Life, Tally excels at Anacostia's scrying challenge and is able to accurately name every color of each flag behind the barrels. In Abomination, she demonstrates more unique scrying work that surprises even General Verger, and later is able to see Nicte in a photo that was concealed by General Alder. In Irrevocable, Tally is able to quickly determine which Biddie was a traitor and windstrike her away from Alder.
    • Clairvoyance: In Mother Mycelium, she is able to sense Khalida and Adil's presence while they were cloaked. In Citydrop, Tally demonstrates the ability to see inside an enclosed truck -- specifically Spree agents arming mines -- without the need to project the visions to a scry. In Witchbomb, she is able to detect the presence of the hostile Camarilla outside the cave, and later the exact locations of several Camarilla soldiers in the middle of a dust storm, as well as be able to tell that the 'tree' in the distance was "not a tree", but actually a Tarim elder dressed as Alder's sister and hung.
      • Empathy: In Citydrop, she tells Anacostia that she is able to feel the emotions of the hostages inside of the truck, and that they were scared. In Witchbomb, she notes that the presence that she feels watching them doesn't feel hostile.
        • Channeling: In Petra's Favorite Pen, Tally was used as a medium for the lost steward to see and speak -- by placing her hand on Tally's head. She communicates with Alder, telling her that her part of the First Song has only brought her pain and persecution.
    • Synesthesia: Tally's abilities have grown to a level where she can visually perceive workings. In the "Dollhouse" exercise in Abomination, she is able to see the work as golden streams of light, similar to an aurora, emanating from a source. This is a rare ability that piqued the interest of Major Magda Verger. She repeatedly uses this unique ability to determine the source for various workings - whether it is fellow witches, an animal medium, or a device. In Irrevocable, she was able to see the 'tainted' connection Alder had with the Spree agent posing as a Biddy -- which appeared red, instead of the usual white. In Delusional, she was able to see the Work being replicated by Nicte's bats. In Revolution, Part 1, she is able to see the green-hued soundwaves that the Camarilla's sonic-dampening equipment puts out, contriving a counter-disabling technique used to short-circuit them. In Oh Elayne..., Tally is shown being able to see the dozens of various vessels holding songs in Elayne's camper; collectively putting out a rainbow of soundwaves -- Alder noted that "Some [were] more dangerous than others".
    • Precognition: In Homo Cantus, Nicte teaches her to find the source of her sight -- the observer herself.  She states that this inner gaze can be aimed forward and back in time as easily as turning your head, until you get to the point where you can remember the future. In The Price of Work, Tally purportedly uses her precognition again when infiltrating the chemical plant to alert Abigail and Adil to incoming Camerilla. Later in the episode she uses it to see Alban Hearst escaping, allowing them to catch up to him, and again when the group returns to their campsite; she reveals that Khalida is not there, but "a half dozen or more" other people were. It is later revealed in Oh Elayne... that Tally had previously seen a vision of Nicte revealing her true face to her several days in the past, which was stated to be much farther ahead than even Nicte could see -- who is noted saying that this kind of work is "juicy" and "morally complicated". In Oh Elayne..., once Abigail, Adil, and Tally realize that they aren't moving fast enough, Tally uses her precognition to find out that they will reunite with Khalida at the Road House bar. In Cession in Session, Abigail asks if Tally had ever tried to prevent or alter a vision to confirm if it were possible or not, prompting her to try. She uses her sight to see a glass being knocked over and shattering in front of her in the house at some point in the future. She catches a glass that she almost knocks over herself, believing that this was enough proof that her predictions could be altered -- however, later Abigail knocks a glass over in the exact same manner to which Tally saw the glass breaking in her vision, immediately prompting her to doubt her previous conclusion. In Book Club, Tally uses her sight while breaking into the government building with her mother, and her fellow book club members, and finds several crates of witch collars -- that she later discovers are permanent once put on -- in the basement, to which she quickly alerts her mother. In She Returns, she purportedly uses her sight to see that the Council is in danger, noting, "...what [she] saw, [she] thinks [they] can save them", and again later just before rescuing them to see that the guards will be changing shifts soon, leaving an opening for them and again when chasing Milly right into Thelma. After Milly is captured and the rest of the Council is saved, Tally sees "...a civilian commander approaching the east entrance, and a unit of witches approaching the back" -- which she noted were "special forces" not cadets, and later she counts down the time until the civilian commander enters the room. Alder specifically calls her a "prophetess" in this episode.
      • Pyromancy: At the end of Happy Yule!, Tally sees a devastating future in the flame of the Yule log -- while sitting in front of it with M -- where the world is ended by one large witchbomb released by Raelle herself.
    • Retrocognition (Psychometry): In Petra's Favorite Pen, Alder helps Tally -- with the use of the music box holding the lost steward's song -- to aim her sight towards the past, where she witnesses several male guards chasing the steward into an ice-cave before she encases them all, including herself, in ice. When Abigail asks where, Tally specifically notes, "Harz mountain range, Northern Germany".
  • Telepathy: Dubbed "Farspeech" by the witches at Fort Salem. Used by the unit to communicate and receive orders from General Alder in Not Our Daughters.
  • Mediumship: After successfully defending the hearth on Samhain, in Brianna’s Favorite Pencil, the coven is told by M after handing out candles to "Find a dark place. Alone. And light your candle. Say the name of the witch you want to speak with. As the wax melts, your messenger will be freed and will bring forth your requested dead." They have until the candle burns out to speak to the spirit. Tally speaks with the leader of the rebels on the Liberian front -- Esta Hilterbrook -- who reveals that General Alder had killed them using Nicte's work after they had already surrendered.
  • Omnilingualism: Due to speaking Méníshè -- the root of all known languages -- Tally is capable of speaking nearly every language. In Mother of All, Mother of None, just before executing Nicte, she stops General Alder by invoking "Rite of Proxy" -- along with several other witches.
  • Counter-Disabling: In Revolution, Part 1, Tally is seen observing the green-hued frequencies of sound that the Camarilla's sonic-dampening equipment creates, forming a counter to it; by matching the tone it puts out, she was able to short-circuit and deactivate them essentially making them useless, allowing her to windstrike the Camarilla agents away.

Former Powers[]

  • Biddy PhysiologyAs a biddy, Tally is physically much older and linked with the other biddies, as well as Sarah Alder. After a offer from General Alder, Tally is given her life back with her team and loses the powers of a biddy.
    • Neural Pathway Link: Tally joined the other biddies at expressing General Alder's negative emotions through hissing and teeth clicking in Of the Blood. This appears to be an involuntary reflex as Tally caught herself after General Bellweather rebuked their behavior.
      • Age Transference: In Witchbomb, after two Biddies die in battle, Tally sacrifices her youth to a dying General Alder to save her life. Later, in Of the Blood, Izadora is seen untangling Tally from Alder and her Biddys' neural pathways, reverting her to normal.
