Throughout the Series[]

Season 1[]

She first arrives in Adil's arms to a U.S. military post, completely passed out and ill. Her brother brings her to Fort Salem so that their healers can help Khalida. She is covered in twisted black veins and is unable to move or speak. The healers are dumbfounded about what to do and when they try to help, Khalida lets out an angry evil groan that scares them away.

Finally, Raelle is able to help and heal Khalida. The black veins disappear and she wakes up, asking where she is and for food.

Later on, General Alder asks her to teach her the Tarim's songs so she can help others. Surprisingly, Khalida is a bit ruthless and tells Alder that their songs are not safe with her.

Physical Appearance[]

Khalida is short with long dark brown hair.

Powers and Abilities[]

Witch Physiology: As a witch, Khalida possesses enhanced vocal chords that are capable of creating change in the physical world by singing different seed sounds and songs, as well as enhanced ears -- as stated in Up is Down: eardrums with "five mallea", compared to a regular human's one, that are capable of sensing subsonic and ultrasonic frequencies far beyond the capabilities of normal humans. As a member of the Tarim, she possesses profoundly rare and powerful seeds. According to Alder, "she might be the most powerful witch who ever lived".

  • Omnilingualism: Due to speaking Méníshè -- the root of all known languages -- from birth, Khalida is capable of speaking nearly every language. In Mother Mycelium, Khalida states, "Our songs are not safe with you", after challenging her. In Coup, she is warned by Adil in Mothertongue to stop provoking General Alder after the two argue again.
  • Longevity: Despite appearing as a child, Khalida is a very ancient witch and leader of the Tarim.
  • Decay Inducement: In Mother Mycelium, when Alder approaches Khalida about learning the songs of the Tarim, she sings a song that causes the plants in a greenhouse to die. It also causes General Alder and her biddies to begin to suffocate.
  • Omniscience: In Mother Mycelium, Khalida somehow knew Raelle's name after waking up. In Coup, she was aware of the deaths of more Tarim members, even before General Alder tells Adil and her.
  • Life-Force Detection: In Coup, Khalida sensed that other members of the Tarim had been killed before General Alder and the party had informed her.
  • Earthwork: The Tarim possess rare songs that allow them to manipulate the earth. The Works they can accomplish include: manipulation of seismic waves -- as well as fine control of the earth itself, splitting rock, creating land where there was none, pressure manipulation, and erosion.
    • Earth Manipulation: Like Adil, she can use her unique songs to manipulate the rocks around her, such as summoning walls of rock or breaking rock apart. She apparently moved a litteral mountain to free Alder out.
      • Earthquake Creation (Seismic Activity): In Coup, Khalida caused the room to shake in a stand off with General Alder.
      • Fissure Creation: In Revolution, Part 1, she and Adil open up a large fissure in the road, preventing the prison bus carrying the Bellweather unit from escaping.
    • Pressure Manipulation: When tectonic plates are under pressure, they shift, causing powerful seismic activity.
      • Magma Manipulation: Pressure and heat underground partially melts mantle rocks, forming magma. In Witchbomb, after seeing a Camarilla agent slash Adil's back, Khalida transmutes him into molten lava, stating that "when [she] saw that man trying to kill [Adil], something broke inside of her...".
  • Warding: In The Price of Work -- though unseen -- Khalida offers to keep the wards up around their camp set up in the Cession, while the rest of the party head to the chemical plant.
  • "First Song": Revealed in Oh Elayne..., Khalida is one of six stewards of the "First Song" -- which is supposed to heal the world. In Happy Yule!, outside of The Marshall's house, Tally sees Khalida performing her piece of the First Song, which not only summons Alder, but resonates with the piece Tally was holding, heating it to the point it burns her.

Abilities[]

  • Omnilingual: Khalida speaks fluent Méníshè as well as practically all other languages.
